DANCE AWAKE IS A CONSCIOUS DANCE PRACTICE. IT IS ABOUT STAYING PRESENT TO WHAT IS ALIVE INSIDE OUR OWN BEING AND MOVING WITH IT. GOOD, BAD, HAPPY, SAD, LOVE, HATE, RESTLESS OR PEACEFUL. NO JUDGMENT, NO SUPPRESSION, JUST A PLAYFUL CURIOSITY ABOUT WHAT IS AND HOW TO MOVE WITH IT.
The blending of movement and music can be a profound and deep practice. It can move you in many ways, and through many dimensions of being. Dance Awake is: an embodied path for deep internal learning and wholeness, a practice for tracking personal growth and awareness, a unique pathway to learn different modalities of meditation that connect you to breath, body, and present moment, an avenue for learning tools to navigate intimate relationships with yourself, others, community, and spirit. A practice that helps release the tensions and stresses of our modern fast paced world, an opportunity to cultivate deep contentment. Many forms of conscious dance are incorporated within the Dance Awake map. Some are based on a connection to an ecstatic experience, some enable you to express yourself more authentically. Others are based in mindfulness, and still others are based in deep shamanic trance. Whatever the pathway, Dance Awake is, at its core, about a person's embodied awareness, and cultivating home in one's spirt and soul. Through your own effort. Exploring your own unique authentic way of Being. Dance Awake can be done by anyone regardless of physical ability, fitness, prior dance experience or religious orientation. It is a practice of opening to your body's hidden wisdom and understanding of your own nature and all of nature.
